Man arrested in Jalan Ban Hock for alleged drug abuse

KUCHING: Police here arrested a local man for alleged drug abuse on Tuesday.

According to Kuching deputy police chief Supt Merbin Lisa in a statement, the suspect, 36, was apprehended at a hotel in Jalan Ban Hock.

“The police confiscated a transparent plastic package containing 6.2g of drugs suspected to be methamphetamine worth roughly RM620.

“He will be investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“The suspect has been remanded in custody for three days, until June 3,” he said.

In addition, the suspect had also tested positive for drugs and had a history of two past drug offences.

In the meantime, the public is urged to continue providing authorities with information about narcotics activity in the district.
