MIRI: A man sustained a bite wound on his ankle after he was bitten by a stray dog in front of a shop at Pujut 7 on Saturday (Aug 1).

Miri Residents Committee (RC) chairman Malateh Mahmud said the 37-year-old victim was attacked at around 10.35pm.

The man was said to be on his way home after going out with his friends when he was attacked.

“The black stray dog was injured after struggling with the victim during the incident.

“The man was then sent to hospital by a friend for further treatment,” Malateh said in a statement.

He said a patrol unit tried to find the dog but failed. A report was immediately lodged with the Miri City Council rabies unit that night.

Blood stains at the scene of the incident on Saturday (Aug 1).
