MIRI: Police have detained a man for possessing drugs believed to be syabu with an estimated worth of RM12,950.

According to Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol, the 32-year-old suspect was spotted behaving suspiciously behind a commercial building at 10.05pm on Friday.

A team of Miri Narcotics police then conducted a bodily inspection and found the drugs weighing 80.9 gramme.

“The drugs were found inside one of the suspect’s pocket during the body inspection,” said Sabri.

The suspect has been brought and detained under police custody at the Miri Central Police Station (CPS) for further questioning.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries death penalty upon conviction and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
