BAU: A 39-year-old man succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Bau Hospital following a car-bus collision yesterday morning.
Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Bingkok John, in a statement, said the accident happened around 10.40 am at KM14.5, Jalan Bau-Batu Kawa.
Investigations found that the bus was travelling from Kuching to Lundu-Sematan while the victim’s car was travelling from the Musi junction to Batu Kawa.
“The accident is said to have occurred when the victim exited the junction and was hit by the bus.
“As a result, the victim, Syafarino Bagus, suffered severe injuries; both ribs were broken and he had internal bleeding,” he said, adding that the bus driver was unharmed.
Bingkok said the victim was rushed to the Bau Hospital but he was pronounced dead at 1.06 pm while receiving treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
