SIBU: A man was killed when his car plunged into a roadside drain at Jalan Rantau Panjang here yesterday.
The victim was identified as Lineker Sadin, 30, from Rumah Pasang, Sungai Rassau, Batang Igan.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the driver was heading towards Rantau Panjang from Durin when the accident occurred.
“The driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a concrete culvert located on the right side of the road.
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical staff from Sibu Hospital,” he said in a statement yesterday, adding that the accident took place at dawn but discovered only at 9.25am.
The case is still under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
