BINTANGOR: A man died after falling from the fourth floor of a building at Jalan Dermaga on Saturday.  

Meradong district police chief DSP Sekam Anoi, who confirmed the incident, said it occurred around 10.20pm and that the victim was identified as Azi Anthony, 29.

He added that based on information received from his family, the victim appeared to be under the influence of alcohol since afternoon.

“Around 9.30pm, the victim was seen standing on a ledge outside a window in his room. The family members then heard something fall around 10.20pm.

“They went down to investigate and found the victim lying on the ground,” he said in a statement.

Sekam added that the victim who was in a weak state, was taken by his family to Bintangor Health Clinic to receive treatment.

However, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel around 11.05pm.

He added the victim’s family did not want any autopsy to be carried out because they believed the victim was intoxicated.
