SIBU: A man was killed after his car collided head-on with a van along Jalan Deshon here on Monday (Aug 16).
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident occurred when the man lost control of his car and swerved to the opposite lane.
“He was heading towards Sungai Merah here from Sibu Hospital.
“Upon arrival at Jalan Deshon, he lost control of his vehicle and entered the opposite lane; colliding with a van before hitting a tanker lorry,” said Alexson today.
He said the victim, identified as Jaszrel Julian Rantai Jeffery, 28, was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics from Sibu Hospital.
“Meanwhile, the van driver was brought to Sibu Hospital,” he added.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
