SELANGAU: A local man was lucky to have escaped what could have been a fiery end when his car crashed and burst into flames near Rumah Inggai at Sungai Anus yesterday (July 4).
A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department said the accident happened around 9.30pm and the 41-year-old managed to get out before his car caught fire.
Firemen from Selangau station were promptly despatched to the scene about 11 kilometres away.
After putting out the flames and wrapping up their operation at 10.36pm, the team confirmed that the blaze destroyed the vehicle that had overturned on the roadside.
It was reported that the driver whose extent of injuries was not immediately known, was taken to a health clinic.
