Man fined RM2k for hurting sibling

KUCHING: An unemployed man was fined RM2,000 in default eight months in prison by the Magistrate’s Court here today for inflicting injury on his brother with a plastic water jug.

Accused Awang Jazli Awang Jalal, 23, pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 323 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 326A of the same code in front of Magistrate Zaiton Anuar.

Based on the charges, he was charged with intentionally inflicting injury to his 35-year-old brother using a plastic water jug.

He committed the offence at a house in Kampung Semariang Batu here at about 1.15 pm last July 3.

If convicted, he can be sentenced up to one year in prison or fined a maximum of RM2,000 or both.

According to the facts of the case, the victim reported to the police that his brother had hit and thrown a plastic water jug ​​at him in an incident at their home.

As a result, the victim suffered injuries to his forehead and neck, as well as bruises under his left eye with back and chest tissue injuries.

The cause of the incident was due to the accused being angry after being reprimanded by his brother for being rude and often asking for money from their mother.

In addition, the hot-tempered accused reportedly often acts aggressively with rage if his request is not granted.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
