KUCHING: A man was lucky to escape serious injury after his car plunged into the Krian river in Betong.

Ali Ranggi, 66, miraculously got out of the vehicle before it sank into the river early yesterday.

He suffered only minor injuries to his left hand in the freak accident that occurred at the Krian ferry point.

It is unknown at press time why Ali, who was heading to Kuching from the direction of Kaba, failed to stop his car.

Emergency rescue personnel later arrived to treat his injury before giving him a ride home.
