SIBU: A 52-year-old man was sentenced to two years’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for his involvement in a job scam.

The sentence was meted out after the accused Febian Siges, pleaded guilty to a charge framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code.

According to the brief fact of the case, the accused had in October last year, cheated a 30-year-old man to make a payment of RM550 to his account as management fee in helping him (victim) get a job in the Public Service Commission although in actual fact the job did not exist at all.

Magistrate’s Stella Augustine Druce ordered that the sentence to run consecutively with his other jail sentences for a similar offence.

Deputy public prosecutor, Mohd Azri Zakaria appeared for the prosecution in the case.

Febian had earlier received jail sentences of between one and four years pertaining to 15 cheating cases which he had committed in Kuching, Padawan, Miri, Sibu and Kapit.
