KAPIT: A local trader here harvested a 10-kilogramme home-grown pumpkin which attracted many curious onlookers.
A normal full-grown pumpkin is between two and three kilogrammes on average.
Kong Siau Kui, who planted this pumpkin, has taken the fruit to Market Teresang here for sale.
According to him, his son, who is working in Australia, brought back a pumpkin seedling in October 2019 during his last year vocation.
“I planted the pumpkin at my house compound. There are several fruits but this one is extra ordinary — weighing ten kilogrammes,” he said.
He said that it took about two months, from the flowering, for the fruit to be harvested.
A pumpkin can be processed into a cordial drink, which could be packed in a can, as well as served as soup.
