MIRI: A local man who smacked the backside of a female medical assistant (MA) on Friday morning has been arrested.
The incident reportedly occurred around 10.30am. It was said that the suspect, 41, approached and suddenly smacked the backside medical worker when she was standing in front of an admission counter of an emergency unit in Miri Hospital.
The misdemeanour was caught on a CCTV.
Sources said the suspect had come to Miri Hospital’s emergency unit for medical reasons.
A police report was immediately filed in by the 26 year-old victim.
Acting on the report lodged, a team of Miri Criminal Investigation department personnel (CID) detained the suspect around 3pm on the same day to assist their probe on the incident.
Meanwhile, Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari when contacted confirmed the arrest.
The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
