MARUDI: Police arrested a local man for allegedly threatening 31-year-old man at Rh Meran Surang, Logan Bunut recently.
Baram District Police chief, Gabriel Risut said the incident occurred at around 7.50pm on Thursday when the suspect who was armed with a shotgun went to the victim’s longhouse and discharged a shot in the air.
“Fearing for his safety, the victim ran away from the suspect and lodged a police report,” he said in statement here.
Gabriel said after receiving the report, a police team led by Corporal Rosli rushed to the scene and detained the suspect as well as seizing the shotgun.
It was understood that prior to the incident, the suspect had gone to the victim’s longhouse at around 6.30pm on the same day and threatened to punch him.
When the victim, known only as Jeffrey Abon, ignored the threat, the suspect went home and returned with a shotgun at around 7.50pm.
In that incident, the suspect can be charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
