Man held for threatening dad

MIRI: The cops here last Saturday detained a local man after he allegedly threatened to kill his father during an argument over money.

The man was arrested around 4.40 pm following on a report lodged by his 63-year-old father on April 13.

During an argument that occurred at a house at Taman Jelita, Taman Tunku around 11pm on April 13, the suspect threatened to kill his father after the latter rejected his demand for cash.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

A suspect (third right) was detained after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend’s brother at Kampung Nelayan Batu Satu Kuala Baram.

Meanwhile, in a separate case at Kampung Nelayan Batu Satu Kuala Baram, a 16-year-old boy was reported to have suffered injuries on his chest after he was allegedly attacked by his sister’s boyfriend.

During the incident which was reported to have occurred around 7.50pm on Saturday night (May 1), the boy was trying to break up a fight between his sister and the man. 

Prior to the commotion, the victim was having his dinner in the kitchen. The boyfriend was about to hit his sister with a spatula when the boy intervened.

Following the incident, a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team picked up the 23-year-old suspect to assist in the police investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
