Man hurt in robbery attempt

KUCHING: An Indonesian from Sambas was seriously hurt in a robbery attempt by two men here yesterday morning.

The victim, in his 40s, was stabbed twice in the stomach and three times in his back by a robber armed with a pair of scissors.

He was also bashed by the robber’s accomplice. At about 2am, he was sitting in front of Emart Batu Kawa while waiting for a bus to go back to Indonesia. The victim, who works in Bintulu, arrived in Kuching on Tuesday night.

As he was trying to sleep, two men arrived on a motorcycle and tried to grab his bag. One of the robbers then stabbed him and he fought back. His shouts for help prompted the robbers to flee leaving him bloodied.

A passer-by stopped to help him and called the ambulance. He was admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital. A police report has been lodged.
