Man injured in 4WD-lorry collision

The victim's vehicle severely damaged following the collision on Monday morning at Jalan Liu Shan Ban.

KUCHING: A 33-year-old man sustained injuries following a collision involving a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle and a lorry on Monday (March 15).

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the incident happened around 10.30am at Jalan Liu Shan Bang (off Jalan Lama Mile 7) when both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions.

“The accident occurred when the victim was travelling from Mile 7, Padawan to Kota Samarahan and his vehicle is believed to have gone out of control and swerved into the opposite lane.

“As a result, the victim’s vehicle collided with an oncoming lorry that was travelling from Kota Samarahan,” he said.

The victim who sustained injuries on his face and body, was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for immediate treatment.

Alexson noted that the lorry fled the scene of the accident and efforts to track the driver is in full swing.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
