Man jailed 8 months for vandalising ATM screens

LIMBANG: The Magistrate’s Court sentenced a local man to eight months in jail for vandalising the automated teller machines (ATMs) at two banks here on July 9.

Limbang police chief Supt Parum Niot in a statement, said the 42-year-old accused was charged at the Magistrate’s Court at 10 am last Tuesday.

“The accused pleaded guilty to four charges before Magistrate Shafiza Datu Abdul Razak Tready.

“As a result, he was sentenced to eight months imprisonment,” he said.

From the arrest, the police have solved four cases of mischief involving three cases of ATM screen vandalism and a case of vehicle windshield vandalism.

Parum advised the public to refrain from engaging in any form of crime which may disrupt public safety and peace.

On July 9, they received two police reports pertaining to a case of mischief where the suspect had deliberately vandalised the ATM screens at two banks.

Acting on information, the police managed to arrest the suspect on the next day (July 10).
