SARIKEI: A man died on the spot after the pickup truck he was driving skidded and plunged into a ditch along Jalan Nyelong Bypass here this morning (Jan 2).
The accident happened around 3.55am and the victim has been identified as Lau Chung, 49.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim’s vehicle had crashed into an electricity pole before crashing into the ditch.
Firemen from Sarikei station were despatched to the scene to extricate the victim after they receiving an emergency call.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and his body was handed over to the police for further action.
