Man killed in self-accident after car crashes into tree

MIRI: A local man died in a self-accident after his car crashed into a tree at Jalan Luak Bay Esplanade here early this morning.

The 28-year-old man, identified as Ling Chih Kai, was the sole occupant of the Honda City, when it veered off the road and hit the tree.

According to acting Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 Miri chief Senior Superintendent II Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee, a team of seven firemen from Miri Central station were deployed to the scene after responding to an emergency alert on the incident around 2.29am.

Upon reaching the scene, they found the victim’s body was trapped inside the car.

Ling was pronounced dead by medical personnel from Miri Hospital who was also at the scene.

The firemen used a rescue tool to extract his body from the wreck.

The operation ended at 3.15am.

The body has been handed over to the police for further action.
