Man killed in wild boar hunt gone wrong

KUCHING: A wild boar hunt in Kampung Sungai Beradek plantation farm here, took a tragic turn after a local man was mistakenly shot dead by his friend.

Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah in a statement, confirmed that they were alerted of the incident at 11.48am yesterday (Apr 27).

“The deceased is a 44-year-old man. He was pronounced dead at the scene with gunshot wounds to his chest.

“Following that, police arrested a 38-year-old man and seized a shotgun for further investigations,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 8 (a) of the Arms Act 1960 for possessing or carrying arms and ammunition without an arms licence or arms permit.

Ahsmon assured that thorough investigations will be carried out into the case.
