BETONG: A fatal accident occurred at Kampung Matop, Jalan Betong-Sepauh today which resulted in one death while two passengers were severely injured.
The Betong Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) responded swiftly to a distress call at 6.45 am regarding the incident where an SUV vehicle collided with a road divider.
Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters reported that a male driver was still trapped in the driver’s seat, while two others, a male and a female, had been extricated by members of the public prior to their arrival.
Firefighters conducted a thorough size-up before utilising specialised ‘Rescue Tools’ to extract the trapped victim.
Unfortunately, the victim was confirmed deceased at the scene by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The two other victims were promptly transported by the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit to Betong Hospital for immediate medical attention.
After conducting a cleanup, the firefighters concluded the operation at 8:24 am.
