BAU: Police nabbed a 39-year-old man on suspicion of being involved in an illegal lottery activity last Sunday (Mar 14).
District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the arrest was made by a CID team in an ‘Ops Dadu’ raid at Bau market around 10am.
“The team spotted and inspected the man, who is believed to be working as an unlicensed public lottery agent.
“A phone and cash amounting to RM723, was seized from the man,” he said, adding that the man was later brought to the police for further action.
Poge noted that the man who do not have any past record, will be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 4A (a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
The Section provides for a fine of between RM20,000 and RM200,000, and up to five years in jail.
