KUCHING: A man narrowly escaped death after fending off two assailants who attempted to rob him, resulting in a chest wound yesterday.
The victim, Roystein Pidan, recounted the incident, which occurred in the vicinity of MJC Batu Kawa en route to Sky Villa condominium around 7 pm as he was riding his motorcycle.
“At first, I assumed the two individuals were having motorcycle troubles and needed help.
“Unexpectedly, they attacked me with a curved knife. Thankfully, I was able to defend myself; the outcome could have been much worse.
“Residents of Batu Kawa should remain vigilant, given the rising number of desperate addicts in the area,” he said.
Roystein added that such incidents are the reason why there are fewer good Samaritans willing to stop and offer help nowadays, as the fear of facing similar dangers is ever-present.
