KUCHING: A man pleaded guilty to two drug-related charges at the Magistrates’ Court here.
Shamsul Sulaiman, 27, was charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 12(3) of the same Act, for possessing 0.04g of methamphetamine.
He committed the crime in a house at Kampung Sungai Bedil Besar on Nov 3, 2022.
Judge Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali sentenced him to six months in prison on Monday (Feb 13).
For the second offence, he was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 15(1) of the same Act.
It provides for a prison sentence of up to two years or a fine not exceeding RM5,000 and immediate supervision for a period not exceeding three years.
Based on the facts of the case, his urine tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division Office here on Nov 3, 2022.
Judge Syarifah Fatimah Azura gave Shamsul a five-month prison term and a two-year police supervision after completing the sentence.
The court ordered the accused to undergo the sentences to both charges from the date of arrest.
The case was prosecuted by Inspector Mohd Adzmei Ahmad while the accused was not represented by counsel.
