PADAWAN: A man ran amok after he was not allowed to leave Kampung Telaga Air, which was placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), last Sunday (Aug 1).

In the 2.30pm incident, which was captured on video, the 30-year-old suspect was seen wielding a long stick and swung it towards the enforcement personnel.

Padawan deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong, who confirmed the case, said Padawan mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit was deployed to the scene.

“During the incident, the EMCO enforcement team persuaded the suspect to return to his home.

“However, the suspect refused to do so and pointed a stick at the personnel.

“The team managed to apprehend the man after a scuffle occurred between the suspect and the personnel,” he said.

He added that the man was handed over to the MPV unit for further action.

Lim said the suspect was believed to be furious after he was not allowed to exit the village, which was tightly controlled by the enforcement personnel.
