KUCHING: A 40-year-old man was detained after he was found in possession of a Samurai sword here yesterday.

The police who were on a crime prevention led by OCS Kuching Central Police station ASP Ahmad Abang saw the man behaving suspiciously outside a public toilet at Market Street at 11.15am.

Upon inspection, the man was found in possession of the Samurai sword measuring 92.6cm. The man admitted that the sword belonged to him but failed to explain what he was doing with it.

The suspect from Kampung Astana was then brought to the CPS and detained for possessing a dangerous weapon.

Police are checking if the man has previous convictions.
