Manhunt for Indonesian suspected of killing fellow countryman

DALAT: Police are currently on the hunt for an Indonesian man suspected of killing his fellow housemate at an oil palm plantation workers’ quarters here yesterday (Mar 11).
 
Dalat district police chief DSP Saga Chunggat, when contacted, confirmed that they received a police report pertaining to the incident.
 
“The victim, who was in his 30s, sustained severe injuries, and he was rushed to Dalat Hospital by the plantation’s security chief.
 
“However, the victim was pronounced dead by medical officers upon arriving at the hospital,” he said.
 
Investigations found that the 51-year-old suspect had fled the scene after allegedly stabbing the victim in the stomach with a sharp object.
 
The cause of the incident is said to be the result of a misunderstanding between the victim, the suspect, and the foreman of their workplace.
 
He pointed out that the Dalat Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is currently tracking down the suspect.
 
Meanwhile, those who have information or have found the suspect are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Rahim Ramli at 017-4211852 or go to any nearby police station.
 
The case is classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
