MIRI: A local man has his dog to thank for after the pet alerted him to a two-metre long python underneath his wooden house last night.

The man’s home in Jalan Bario, Kampung Cina Lutong was visited by the python when the 27-year-old was asleep on his couch, only to be awakened at 11.45 pm after hearing his dog bark incessantly.

Out of curiosity, he opened the front door to check on his dog when he saw ‘something’ underneath the house.

Surprised to see a python hiding and curling underneath his wooden house, the man immediately ran into his home and called the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) for help.

Four APM personnel arrived and managed to capture the reptile after 20 minutes. The python was then released to its natural habitat.
