MIRI: The body of a man was found in a burning car at Jalan Nasturium, Taman Yun Fah this afternoon (March 31).

A team of firemen from the Lopeng fire station was deployed to the scene in response to a distressed call about the fire at 1.12pm.

The body of the man was seen in the driver’ seat of the vehicle, a Toyota Camry, which was parked by the roadside while fire officials were dousing the flames.

The victim has not yet been identified.

Firemen managed to put out the fire around 1 .27pm. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

A team of Miri Criminal Investigation department (CID) team arrived at the scene to conduct investigations after the discovery of the body inside the burning car.

The body has been taken to Miri Hospital for a post mortem.

Miri District Police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari, when contacted today, said  the case would only be classified after the post mortem.
