KUCHING: The Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development has launched a manual for facilitators on the Training Management of Randau Social Development through Community Based Learning.

Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said that the manual would serve as a guideline for facilitators in organising and conducting programmes.

“The manual will be a form of guidance for facilitators on how to conduct and organise programmes. Among the things included in the manual are instructions for the facilitators, and briefing for the participants.”

She said this at the press conference after the Sarawak Social Development Council (MPS) members meeting on Wednesday (Oct 28) at Baitul Makmur building II.

According to Fatimah, MPS had achieved many things from 2016 to 2019 after being placed under her ministry since 2016.

“MPS has established 25 governance and reference terms to address various social issues at state and division or district level as well as developed and documented eight key guidelines for reference in improving the delivery and uniformity in management of service to address social issues faced by the people.

“Moreover, MPS has implemented 258 series of social development and intervention programmes involving over 30,000 participants at state and division or district levels. They have also completed four studies and evaluation which can be used as evidence-based input to influence policies, action plans and social intervention programmes.”

During the meeting, Fatimah presented the appointment letter to 32 members of MPS for 2020-2022 session.

“The research and evaluation committee chaired by Datuk Adi Badiozaman Tuah welcomed Suhardi Omar,  a statistician and Jayl Langub, a sociologist as their new members. Among the studies that will be implemented under the 12th Malaysian Plan (RMK-12) are Towards a Healthy Aging Society in Sarawak: A Sustainability of Institutional Framework and Social Support as well as the second Sarawak Social Wellbeing Index.

“The planning and policy committee is chaired by Datuk Sri Mohammad Abu Bakar Marzuki who is Deputy State Secretary. This committee was established to produce strategic, comprehensive and integrated social development planning and policies to achieve MPS’ objectives.”

Besides that, MPS officers will also be conducting a Profile Study of Domestic Violence in Sarawak for 2015-2019 and Survey on the Social Issues of the Penan Tribe in Sarawak.

She said that MPS’ new series of outreach programme entitled “Program Randau Solidariti Komuniti” which emphasised on unity among the people at the community level was recently conducted at Kampung Semariang Batu.
