SIBU: A “ngiling bidai” (Gawai closing) ceremony was held at Rumah Jackson Ngumbang, Rantau Danggih, Selangau on Monday night.
The ‘ngiling bidai’ ceremony and a traditional Iban ‘miring’ ceremony were performed in the dark during the gathering to mark the end of the Gawai Dayak celebration.
Many activities were held including telematch, poco-poco dance contest, “bertaboh” contest and others.
The function was aimed at fostering closer ties among the longhouse residents who were visibly happy to see their Chinese friends coming to their longhouse.
