KUCHING: Development and infrastructure projects in Kampung Buntal will be implemented under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP).

Assistant Utilities (Water Supply) Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said there were many projects still under construction through state and federal funds.

“As Pantai Damai assemblyman, together with Santubong MP Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, we have a lot of development that are needed by the village community.

“Almost 80 per cent of the villagers here are fishermen, so we want to build infrastructures that can help them improve their lives.”

He said this during his visit to the new Suhaili Bridge, Kampung Buntal on Thursday (March 11).

“There are projects implemented under RTP. For example, road improvement, maintenance of the multipurpose hall and surau in Kampung Buntal.”

He also revealed a discussion with Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) for the improvement of the wet market in the village.

“This is because most of the fish in Kuching are from Kampung Buntal. We are currently in discussion about the design.

“The other one is at the Rampangi Scheme, before the Santubong Bridge.”

He added that the new bridge in Rampangi was completed and would be handed over to the village by the Public Works Department.
