Marine cops foil bid to smuggle diesel

MIRI: Marine police foiled an attempt by a van to illegally transport a tank containing diesel on Sunday (May 8).

A team from the Sarawak Marine Police Region 5 spotted the suspicious van and detained it. Following an inspection the vehicle driven by a local man, was transporting a tank containing diesel stored in the back of the vehicle.

The driver failed to produce any documents to possess, store and carry controlled items or a licence from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).

Tthe driver committed an offence under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

The case was handed over to KPDNHEP Miri for further investigation.
