BINTULU: Marine police here together with the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) rescued 127 magpies in a joint operation recently.
According to the Sarawak Marine Police Region 5, the operation codenamed ‘Op Bersepadu (Inter-Agency)’ was carried out at a hut around Bintulu.
During the raid, a team comprising 12 officers and personnel from Bintulu marine police and SFC Bintulu found several white plastic containers in the area.
Further inspections led to the discovery of 127 magpies which were protected wildlife in the containers.
It was reported that no arrest was made as no one appeared at the scene.
All the confiscated items were taken to SFC Bintulu Office for investigation and further action.
