SIBU: The wet and dry market in Sibu Jaya will be closed from tomorrow (24 April) for three days after a member of the public health staff of Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) was confirmed positive for Covid-19, today (April 23).

SRDC chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai in a statement recently said that the SRDC Business and Licensing Division standing committee held an emergency meeting in view of the new standard operating procedures (SOPs) imposed in Sibu Division.

According to him, SRDC unanimously decided that the two markets will be closed from April 24 to 26 for the purpose of cleaning or disinfection and sanitisation work.

In this regard, Sempurai added that the pasar tamu, fruit stalls, and night market in Sibu Jaya remain closed.

In another development, Sempurai said that the wet and dry market in Selangau will start operating today (April 24).

“The new operating hours of the wet and dry market in Selangau are from 6am to 12 noon,” he explained.
