MARUDI: The Marudi bridge project, which was previously stalled, is now progressing at a rate of two per cent of construction and ahead of schedule.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that the original contractor was terminated, and a rescue contractor, Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit Sdn Bhd, was appointed.

The company has given its commitment to complete the RM116.5 million project in two years.

Uggah, who is also the Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, expressed his confidence in the company and said that they have the necessary machinery and workers on-site to complete the 650-meter-long two-lane single carriageway bridge by October 2025.

“Today, we have seen the progress, and we are all very pleased. You can see the difference. According to the Public Work Department (PWD), this project is two per cent or 12 days ahead of schedule. It is a good progress, and the government had made the right decision in appointing the rescue contractor,” Uggah said during his visit to the project site, accompanied by his deputy minister Datuk Majang Renggi and Marudi assemblyman Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil.
