MARUDI: The Marudi bridge is expected to be completed by September this year, said Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil.

He said the project progress is currently ahead of schedule by 63.17 percent. This ensures the bridge will be ready before the 2026 Baram Regatta.

The Marudi assemblyman said this when speaking at a community gathering and cheque presentation ceremony here recently.

In the meantime, Penguang said the construction of the new road from Miri to Marudi is set to commence this year, benefiting the residents of Marudi, Telang Usan, and Mulu.

Additionally, improvement work on Tebingan Marudi will be undertaken through funding from the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).

During the event, he presented minor rural project (MRP) grants amounting to RM130,000 to 13 village safety and development committees (JKKKs) and local organisations.

The ceremony was attended by Marudi district officer Rose Edward Tarang, Marudi district council chairman Councillor Edward Mendai, Pemanca Jamel Sabel, and Pemanca Wong Kiong Ching.
