MARUDI: The district of Marudi is set to increase its law enforcement manpower.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri believed that an increase in personnel was needed due to the size of Marudi, which also includes Baram.

“Marudi is one of the biggest districts in Sarawak, and during this morning’s briefing, I have spoken to Marudi OCPD DSP Ruslan Mat Kib on the matter, and asked him to prepare the working papers,” he told the media today.

Mohd Azman was responding to a question with regard to plans to improve the Marudi District Police Headquarters (IPD).

Earlier, he and his entourage from Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) visited Marudi IPD. He was of the opinion that Marudi’s crime rates were under control. Also present was his deputy, Datuk Mancha Ata.

Marudi can be reached by road from Miri and the journey takes about one hour, 45 minutes.
