KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Masing hopes Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will meet soon now that it is officially registered. “There surely is a need for further discussion on how best we could move forward,” Masing said in a statement yesterday.

Masing, who holds two portfolios namely, Deputy Chief Minister and Infrastructure, Development and Transportation Minister, said he was excited about GPS as a boat that Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), People Democratic Party (PDP) and PRS must paddle together. “We have no choice, but to paddle the boat together. If the boat sinks, we all sink,” he said.

On GPS’ certificate of registration, he said: “This is the first time parties are controlled and shaped by Sarawakians.

“We don’t have to listen to outsiders or outside parties.” He added he was proud to be part of the coalition saying, GPS gave the coalition members the chance to be honest and sincere not only to component members but to the people as well.
