KUCHING: Sarawak today is in mourning following the passing of Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing this morning.
His death was confirmed by his nephew, Nicholas Kudi, who is also the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister.
Masing passed away at 7.05am at Normah Sarawak Medical Specialist Centre.
Astro Awani reported that Masing passed away due to complications from Covid-19.
Masing, who is also the Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president, was reported to have tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 28.
He was initially hospitalised at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
Masing was the Baleh assemblyman and also Infrastructure and Port Development Minister.
