Ugak officiates at the earth-breaking ceremony for a new site of Rumah Jantai.

KAPIT: Hulu Rajang Member of Parliament Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong recently visited Rumah Jantai, a 23-door longhouse at Nanga Entelangau, Merirai in Baleh.

His purpose was to officiate at an earth-breaking ceremony for the site of a new longhouse and to attend a ‘Leaders Meet the People’ session.

On behalf of Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing he announced a grant of RM23,000 for the longhouse. He himself gave another RM23,000 and announced a government grant of RM5,000 for the longhouse’s women’s bureau.

On politics, Ugak spoke at length explaining the current political scenario in Sarawak in particular and Malaysia in general.

While he strongly urged the people to stand firmly support Masing who is also Baleh assemblyman he also advised them to ignore propaganda spread by unknown politicians who tend to crop around election time according to their hidden agenda.

Present at the function were a political secretary to the chief minister, Nicholas Kudi Jantai; Bukit Mabong District Officer Douglas Pungga; Kapit administrative officer Belayong Piok; Temenggong Wilfred Billy Panyau, Pemaca Steward Sawing, Penghulu Jampi Raweng, Penghulu Bunsu Geringgang, Penghulu Linggi Maseng, Penghulu Langut and some five hundred guests.
