KUCHING: The state fund of about RM31 billion should be utilised for the development of the state by providing the need of the people, said Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing.

According to him, there could be a chance of losing in the coming election in 2021 if the state reserve is not utilised for the development Sarawak.

He said that the next government taking over from the previous one will use that reserve to build infrastructure such as roads, water supply and electricity, which would make them look better than us.

“This should not be the case because we are the ones who earn that money, and they will just use it.

“It is very important that for the next few years, we must use this money that we have accumulated and build what needs to be done,” said Masing in his speech during the PRS Thanksgiving and Gawai Ngiling Tikai dinner 2018 held at local restaurant, in Kuching last Sunday.

Masing who is also Baleh State Assemblyman, also pointed the usage of the State’s dam to help gear up the state development and people in the rural areas.

“Water supply must be made, so that people in the longhouses, Kampungs, small towns and villages have the water that they need.

“We have the money, but use it properly for the projects with the greatest impact to our rural areas.

“There is no reason for us to lose in the coming election if we put up development according to the people’s needs,” he said.
