KABONG: The contingents from Masjis Lama Alit and SK Abang Leman were crowned champions in the banner and procession competitions, respectively, in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration here.

Both took home a cash prize of RM2,000 along with a trophy and participation certificate.

The runner-up in the banner competition was secured by the SMK Kabong contingent, earning RM1,500 along with a trophy and participation certificate.

KAFA SK Abang Leman secured third place and received a prize of RM1,000 along with a trophy and participation certificate.

Meanwhile, the procession competition’s runner-up was the SK Sungai Pasir contingent, taking home a prize of RM1,500, a trophy, and a participation certificate.

SMK Kabong also claimed third place in the procession competition, earning a prize of RM1,000, a trophy, and a participation certificate.

The prizes were presented by Kabong District officer Mohamad Rashdan Hazemi, who also serves as the chairman of the Maulidur Rasul celebration organising committee, representing Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir.

According to him, this year’s gathering saw the participation of 37 contingents, involving approximately 900 participants.

“The celebration has been very lively with 36 contingents, including village categories, government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and schools, as well as one renowned contingent.”

He emphasised the importance of continuing to commemorate the Maulidur Rasul celebration and instilling it in the hearts of every Muslim.

He led the procession, which started at 8am at Kabong Town Square and concluded at the Kabong Hawker Center.

Also present were the Kabong Islamic Welfare Trust (LAKIK) chairman and deputy chairman of the Maulidur Rasul celebration organising committee, Councillor Ulin Tabur, as well as community leaders and village heads.
