BEKENU: Every student needs to master the English, which is an international language, says Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), this can be done with the availability of internet and social media facilities that allow students to learn English conveniently.

“The Sarawak government through the ministry related to education insists that schools, the District Education Office (PPD), primary and secondary schools emphasise English-based education.

“I request the students to master the English language through reading and watching dramas on YouTube.

“Students need to master it because English education is very important to everyone as it is the world’s lingua franca,” he said.

He said this in his speech during the officiating ceremony of the Career and Education Day Programme organised by the Subis District Education Office, the Sarawak State Education Department and Yayasan Sarawak at the Bekenu Community Hall here yesterday.
