THE International Trade, Industry and Investment Ministry (MINTRED) has commenced a master plan study for the development of industrial terminals in Sarawak.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the master plan was expected to be completed by March, next year.

Awang Tengah revealed this in his ministerial winding-up speech today.

“The consultant has visited the various identified sites for the proposed industrial terminals and is currently finalising the interim report.

“The master plan will enable Sarawak to plan and develop the petrochemical downstream industries in a more holistic manner,” he said.

Additionally, the International Trade, Industry and Investment Minister said his ministry would resume international investment and trade promotion programmes as many countries were gradually re-opening their borders.

In line with the Post COVID-19 Development Plan (PCDS) 2030, Awang Tengah said his ministry would focus on and intensify the promotion of investment in several sectors.

These include the high-tech, green technology and hydrogen, shipbuilding and ship repair, timber, oil and gas, and small and medium enterprises sectors.
