KUCHING: The Sarawak government has given a 75 per cent subsidy through BESarawak to every participant of all four sessions of the Masterclass programme.

The Masterclass is a training programme under Sarawak’s first professional industry training platform TriBE: Innovation, which is designed to give both industry professionals and associations a chance to understand the business sector and equip them for tomorrow’s challenges.

“We hope that with this new collaboration with the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (Maceos), it will drive our industry partners to strive with the guidance and support of TriBE: Innovation to groom and nurture future leaders in business events towards building legacies for the betterment of Sarawak.

“For those pursuing their professional industry certifications, they can also collect their Continuous Education Unit (CEU) points through the Masterclass,” said BESarawak chairman Datuk Seri Dr Muhammad Leo Toyad here yesterday.

“I am proud to say that BESarawak is on a historic journey to strengthen our role in developing Sarawak by diversifying our values and return of investments from business events into more than just economic.

“What we are doing is strengthening our economic impact through tourism, and expanding the intangible values of business events in legacy impacts,” said Leo at the signing ceremony between Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) and Maceos.

Leo also added that leaving a legacy was also highly important to them and it should be important to the business industry too.

“The economic impact of business events, which translates to tax revenues and employment opportunities in Sarawak, is impressive.

“Meanwhile, the legacy impact of business events touches on the non-monetary values that will better our communities and give Sarawakians a better future and this means that for the sectors in Sarawak, we will be arming ourselves with today’s tools and knowledge to ensure that we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the rest of the world.

“To achieve this, industry partners must receive the professional education and training in order to meet the current demands of this fast-moving industry.

“We aim for a strong well-educated supplier base, and because of our collaboration with Maceos, I believe that we shall definitely achieve a stronger, confident community of business events suppliers,” Leo elaborated.
