MUKAH: Mastery of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is very important among the young generation to enhance the country’s competitiveness at the global level.

Director of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu Campus Professor Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini said that in addition to mastering STEM, they needed to have a high level of thinking to be competitive.

“It is in line with the school’s goals and the government’s aspirations to produce human capital with first class thinking to achieve the nation’s wellbeing.

“Not only that, soft skills are also an important skill for us to succeed in the future,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the 13th Graduation Ceremony of the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) Mukah at Dewan Setia Raja, here, yesterday.

Accordingly, he said, the world’s challenges are becoming more and more challenging.

“To face it, we not only need to master worldly knowledge, but also religious knowledge as a fortress and identity.

“Therefore, we will do good deeds and prevent ourselves from doing activities that are not beneficial,” he explained.

In addition, he also advised the graduates being feted to continue their struggle and study to a higher level.

Dalam masa sama, turut disampaikan Anugerah Kecemerlangan bagi kategori Puteri kepada Ailin Safiya Mohamed Khirul Nizzuan manakala bagi kategori Putera diterima oleh Muhamad Furqan Sapawi dan Anugerah Tokoh Akademik telah disampaikan kepada Ahmad Syarthibi Jailani.

At the same time, the Excellence Award for the Princess category was presented to Ailin Safiya Mohamed Khirul Nizzuan while the Prince category was received by Muhamad Furqan Sapawi and the Academic Character Award was presented to Ahmad Syarthibi Jailani.

Present was MRSM Mukah principal Mohammad Gahffari Hamdan.
