Nike has tapped American designer and 1017 ALYX 9SM founder Matthew Williams for a second collection of performance-led clothing.

Williams has once again taken advantage of Nike’s high-tech design tools to create a range that will see athletes through what the designer describes as “really hardcore outdoor training.” With Sherpa fleece, two-in-one pants, utility vests and detachable hoods, and even socks and underwear, Williams has designed a range of multi-functional pieces aimed to protect athletes in all elements.

“When you’re running, you get wet mainly the top of your shoulders, so we ensured rain coverage in that spot,” explains Williams.

Using computer algorithm,s Williams has also created his own camouflage, a pattern traditionally inspired by nature, which for Williams is season-less rather than trend-driven. The design not only allows Williams to play around with Nike’s technology, but according to the designer is also the natural choice for a collection created for intense training.

The Nike x MMW collection was released January 19 at an exclusive pop-up shop in Paris, France. It will be available globally beginning February 7. Head to nike.com for more details. – Relaxnews
