KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng and a group of city councillors were on the ground to monitor places badly affected by the flash floods under MBKS jurisdiction on Wednesday night.

Wee expressed his concern for those affected and appealed to everyone to stay alert and calm as the government was trying its best to provide much needed assistance.

He also reminded all residents to be aware of any rise in the water level in their areas.

“Keep safe all your belongings and give full cooperation to the agencies when evacuation is needed.

“Please call the relevant agencies in the event of any emergency and avoid the flood water for safety purposes,” he added.

Wee said the monsoon season was a natural phenomenon and unavoidable.

Nevertheless, the government would do its level best to reduce any casualties and damages to properties.
